Chicago Preview

Image
For the third year in a row, the NASCAR Cup Series takes to the streets of Chicago. There's been a lot of craziness the last two years especially when it comes to the weather. It has rained the last two years and has led to both races being shortened which sucks. Unfortunately, it looks like it may rain again Sunday afternoon which just stinks. Regardless, Chicago has been really fun to watch the last two years. Whether it be SVG coming in and dominating his ever cup race, or Alex Bowman pulling off an upset win, Chicago has given fans a lot of thrilling moments. Today, I would like to discuss a few storylines and my predictions for the Chicago weekend. Storylines     The third, and likely final race on the streets of Chicago has a few interesting storylines. Firstly is the in-season tournament, which features 16 drivers still left vying for the million dollars. There are no perfect brackets left for the fans, so a lot of the intrigue is likely gone a...

Grading the Xfinity Series

Image
I normally do not talk much about the Xfinity or Truck Series on this blog. That said, with it being a relatively slow news week, I wanted to grade each full time Xfinity driver on their 2025 season. I'll give a brief description for the grade that I give, but won't be super long. Either way, time to dive into my grades for each Xfinity Driver! Sheldon Creed (D+)     Sheldon Creed has been pretty disappointing this year. He sits 11th in the regular season points and is currently the last driver in the playoffs. His average finish is 6 positions worse than what it was last year with JGR, and that's largely because he keeps crashing out in races. He has 6 DNFs this season, all because of crashes. Creed is a decent driver, but the hype around him in Xfinity has quickly died down. He's been with 3 top Xfinity teams the last 4 years and still has not gotten a win. At some point, some serious discussions are going to be needed about what Creed's future look...

Daniel Suarez Out at Trackhouse

Image
Trackhouse Racing and Daniel Suarez announced on Tuesday that they have parted ways heading into the 2026 season. There has not been any announcement on who will replace Suarez for the 2026 season, but there is one clear favorite. Today, I want to dive into Suarez's time at Trackhouse and what the move means for both Trackhouse and Suarez moving forward. The Announcement     There doesn't appear to be any beef between Suarez and Trackhouse. Suarez was Trackhouse's initial driver that they built the team around in 2021. Suarez viewed this as his best opportunity yet, despite driving for both Joe Gibbs Racing and Stewart-Haas Racing. Suarez never really hit the ground running with JGR during his time there, failing to make the playoffs in the two seasons that he was there. For Stewart-Haas, Suarez was only wanted in that seat by Tony Stewart, so he was already under a ton of pressure because Gene Haas wanted Cole Custer instead. Suarez did not have a gr...

The Growth of Spire Motorsports

Image
Originally founded in 2018 by Jeff Dickerson and Tj Puchyr, Spire Motorsports would go full time in the cup series during the 2019 season after purchasing one of the Furniture Row Charters. Spire would end up fielding one car that season with a mixture of drivers subbing in. Today, I want to discuss Spire Motorsports growth since their inception in 2018 and discuss what the future could look like for the organization. The First Win     Spire Motorsports was never super competitive in 2019. They were a backmarker for most of the season, but they were able to pick up a win during the 2019 season. It did come in a rain shortened race, but Justin Haley and the 77 team made the right strategy call during the summer Daytona Race. Kurt Busch and others gave up the lead to pit right before the storms came. Haley and the 77 team, however, stayed out and caught the storm at the right time. NASCAR was never able to get the race restarted, giving Haley and S...
